Copyrighted material

The recording industry is very aggressively pursuing copyright violators but determining the legal ownership of the intellectual property represented in digital audio is not possible under the current state of computer science and practice. Consequently, although it is not the intent of the developers, Fx Audio Editor provides a variety of tools which could be used by unscrupulous users to duplicate copyrighted material or defeat copy protected and/or licensed audio.

If you are working with old recordings the circular published by the US Copyright Office entitled " How to investigate the copyright status of a work" may be useful.

Complying with copyright laws is your responsibility. You must determine the legality of your actions before you rip tracks from a copyrighted CD or record licensed audio and save it to another format.
